Apple iPhone 5 Variations and Rumours

Now, I remain highly skeptical about Apple products and that’s not hard to understand if you’ve been reading this blog for a while now. It’s not like I have an aversion to their products, off course not, it would be silly to deny the sheer impact it’s had on personal computing devices in the last decade or so. I remember being in awe when a Dj friend of mine at University in Australia pulled out his gleaming iPod. The discussion was about using turntables versus cd machines, and he turned the whole argument into the fact that I really need an iPod to carry my music as opposed to huge cd carry cases.

But the fact remains, they aren’t as accessible or open as Android devices or even as exciting, for me, as the MS Surface that’s about to come out.

And with the launch of the iPhone 5 now coming closer, the hype and the rumor mill is in full swing. We covered leaked news about the new iPhone 5 a couple of days ago. Today I got another picture in my inbox.

This is also, purportedly, the new iPhone 5, but this one, has a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out.

Now can this be true? We know that the iPhone keypad has come in for some flack over the time it’s been on the market. One of the reasons the MS Surface integrated a proper keyboard into its device. So are they finally changing their outlook of aesthetics over everything else?

With Steve Jobs no longer at the helm of the firm, it could be they have decided to move away from strict visual rules and into practicality.

But i doubt it. And here’s why:

1. An integrated keypad will bulk up the sleek dimensions of the iPhone 5. Will users be ok with a much bulkier iPhone?

2. This is an issue that’s always existed, but they haven’t even tried rectifying it, I don’t see them starting suddenly. They may do it on a new device, but I think the iPhone will stay true to it’s roots.

3. The Apple myth is so large that leaked photos, doctored photos, all make it online in a flurry of excitement, and I do think this picture isn’t real.

But in case it is, I just had to cover it.
