Add your Profile to Google Search Results
So there’s this really nice little trick that Google’s come up with. Adding your Profile, picture or company logo to Google search results that contain your content. It’s not the latest development but come on, at the rate they make things, and wonderful things at that, it’s impossible for one little blogger like yours truly to keep up with them.
And the best thing about it is, definitely, the ease with which authors and creators can now be recognised. As somebody who blogs a fair bit, and works in Online Marketing, to have the ability to show my clients how high my content ranks just by Googling my past work is an amazingly tantalising idea.
So with this is mind, let’s share this cool new tip with all you cats out there, and do please, as always write in with any tips you have, or corrections or just to say hello.
The 7 step simple process to Google Search result thumbnails:
- Add a simple code:
<a href=”https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID”
rel=”author” target=”_blank”> Join me on Google+</a>
To the header, footer or sidebar of your website or blog.
2. On your About Us/Me page add the code
<a href=”https://plus.google.com/GOOGLE+ ID”
rel=”me” target=”_blank”> My Google Profile</a>
3. On Google + in your profile, add the links to your website and blogs
4. Attach a nice picture of yourself or a logo if you want
5. In the Edit Profile Section of Google + select the option ‘Show this tab on my profile’
6. Save all changes to your profile
7. Google yourself
So there we have it. A simple 7 step process to adding a whole new outreach for your content. It’s easy to do, and there’s every reason to do it. I think Google is onto a good idea, and this is a good way to drum up interest in Google + as well, so a win win situation for everyone involved.
Till the next blog. Adios!
